From the President………

Walworth 2007.

I am pleased to be able to say the Walworth rally just “keeps on keeping on”. 2007 was another cracking year for us, with every room (except the Bridal Suite) taken. I am very aware that the prices we have to charge mean it is not exactly the cheapest rally in Europe, but we try, every year, to make it the best.

My England 3 team of Jim Gardiner, Liz Allsop and Walter Head have once again come up trumps. They were more than ably assisted by one of our honorary members Bill Turner, who doubled as the President of Jamaica 1 and provided entertainment with some dodgy jokes as well as his ubiquitous “nail game”. I say “one of” our honorary members because in the form of Chris Taylor we now have two. And I cannot thank her enough for the behind the scenes efforts she put in to ensure that the auction was, again, such a resounding success.

The Secretary’s secretary (Jo) and Enid (who must be obeyed) again supported admirably. And my thanks extend also to the many members of England 3, and their partners, who helped to make the Rally what it was.

Surinder & the Castle staff were as attentive and efficient, and as friendly, as ever before.

Our special guests were Dave & Marilyn, representing UK COPS, and themselves “survivors”. It was especially nice to have them with us. I know it gave Jim, our Vice President, great pleasure in being able to present them with a cheque for £1,000.00 from monies raised entirely over the Walworth weekend. Our thanks to our guests who contributed so very generously.

We also organised the Charity Poker Run, an annual event to raise funds for the Herriott Hospice Homecare, our own special charity. It again proved a success and £300.00 was raised for this most worthy cause. Last year’s winner Rachel Goold presented the Bev Leale Memorial Shield, to the new holder, none other than Marilyn, our UK COPS representative.

Our old friends came to see us, and we made a good number of new ones. And that, ladies & gentlemen, is what it is all about!

I offer you, on behalf of England 3, an invitation to join us if you are able, in 2008. It would be so good to see you again.

Ride With Pride
