Monthly Meeting;
The next monthly meeting will be held at
The Stonebridge Inn (A690, Durham) on
Wednesday 15th February,
2012, at 8 pm. The Inn has an excellent restaurant so if you'd like
to arrive from about 7 pm you can have a meal prior to the meeting. The schedule for all subsequent meetings is provisionally as follows; March - Tuesday 13th. April - Tuesday 10th. May - Tuesday 8th. June - Tuesday 12th. July - Tuesday 10th. August - Tuesday 14th. September - Tuesday 11th. October - Tuesday 9th. November* - AGM tbc. December - Tuesday 11th.
*The 2012 AGM will be held in November, at a date, time and venue to be confirmed. Chapter Events; There are a number of events in the planning stage at the moment including rides-out, BBQ's etc. The information published here is subject to change so please visit regularly.
Sunday 24th April:-
The Durham Police Motorcycle Section’s BikeWise Easter Egg Run, which was
first ran in March 2005, has become a well established event on the local
biking calendar. Please contact Ride Captain, Richard Jurecki, (dick_thrust1@yahoo.co.uk) to confirm your attendance on the ride, but please also consider pre-registering via the Bikewise website:- Online Pre-Registration.
Saturday 21st and/or Sunday 22nd May:- Trial run of route for Bev Leale Memorial Poker Run scheduled for Saturday 28th May during the Saint Cuthbert Rally 2011.
Friday 27th to Sunday 29th May:- The Saint Cuthbert Rally 2011, at Durham. This is England III’s 20th rally. Full details here: Palatine Rally 2012.
Saturday 28th May:- Bev Leale Memorial Poker Run. This will commence with a Bike Blessing at Durham Cathedral, conducted by the Bishop of Jarrow.
Sunday 29th May to Saturday 4th June:- The post-rally Scotland trip to the Nether Barr Steading, Newton Stewart in Wigtownshire. An eventful week is planned and full details will be published when finalised, but the initial information is available here: Scotland 2011. Places are very limited so be sure to book now if you are interested in coming on this trip.
Wednesday 15th June:- Alston and Hartside Café ride.
Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July:- England III will have an info/recruiting stand at the prestigious BMF show at Kelso. We are there the whole weekend so feel free to drop by and have a chat. Please note this is a camping weekend and advance confirmation of attendance is required. See further information on the BMF website here: Kelso Bikefest 2011.
Sunday 10th July:- This is the date for the “Ridewell” Show at Preston Hall, Stockton, Cleveland. Normally England III would have a stand here but for the 2nd year in a row the event clashes with the BMF Show at Kelso. Anyone not attending Kelso is welcome to pop along to Stockton. The invitation for a club stand has been passed on to our neighbours from England XII. Details: Ridewell 2011.
Sunday 24th July:-
Back on home turf now for another info
stand, this time at the 17th Durham Constabulary "Bikewise" show
at Police HQ, Aykley Heads. Volunteers are requested to assist manning the
stand. Details here:-
BikeWise 2011. Sunday 7th August:- Members will be heading to Staffordshire, to take part in the Lawride to the National Memorial Arboretum, for UK COPS.
Wednesday (t.b.c.) August:- Visit to the Helmsley TT. Meet at Bowburn Services, J61 A1(M) North.
Sunday 25th September:- Tan Hill and “moors” ride.
Sunday 1st October:- Ride to the Wall. Charity ride to the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire. RTTW is a unique motorcycling event which gives motorcyclists an opportunity to gather together at a place of remembrance, to pay their respects to our serving and fallen service men and women and, in doing so, raise funds solely for the purpose of perpetuating their memory and recognising the sacrifice made. Further info: RTTW. Please note that members attending will need to travel down on Saturday 30th September and stay overnight. Accommodation is yet to be sourced, but details will be provided once known.
Sunday 11th November:- Remembrance Sunday. Ride to the Remembrance Service at Sedgefield, County Durham.
